The next Foundation Board meeting is scheduled for January 20, 2021, 6:30 PM in the Library.
Donors may choose to either mail their contributions to Silver Lake Public Library Foundation, Inc., PO Box 248, Silver Lake, KS 66539 or contribute online through the Northeast Kansas Library Foundation https://foundation.nekls.org/lgd. Select the Silver Lake Library to support our project.
On Monday, February 10, 2020, Jeni Flach of Cargill AgHorizons and Justin Collins of Bettis Contractors presented a check in the amount of $24,000 to the Library Foundation Board and Library Board of Trustees. Cargill and Bettis partnered to repair the sidewalk on the east side of the Library. The work is expected to be completed this spring.
Cargill, Inc. previously donated $70,000 toward the Library’s Renovation project.
The Foundation is seeking additional board members.
The board is responsible for overall policy and direction of the foundation, consistent with the foundation’s purposes, and delegates responsibility of day-to-day operations to its resident agent, and to such committees as the Board shall designate. The board shall have up to 9, but not fewer than 6 members. The board receives no compensation other than reasonable expenses.

The Silver Lake Public Library Foundation was the recipient of a $1,000.00 donation from Ed Bozarth Chevrolet. The Foundation was Sharlee Mason’s choice when her name was drawn from numerous entries during the Company’s anniversary celebration.
Bob Schwarz Financial presented a check for $1,000.00 to the Foundation during their regular meeting April 11. Schwarz and company sponsored a benefit breakfast March 31 to support the Foundation’s funding priority – the Library’s Renovation & Expansion project.
Work is scheduled to begin soon on the north facade of the Library. The improvements include new ramp, entrance and windows.
The Internal Revenue Service determined that the Foundation is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the Foundation are deductible under section 170 of the Code.
